How to show up on Google Maps in Garland, Mesquite, Forney and Rockwall without faking locations
If you serve customers across several Dallas-Fort Worth suburbs, use one Google Business Profile for your real business location, or hide the address if you work from home, and add the cities or ZIP codes you serve as service areas. Do not create extra profiles with addresses you do not staff. That breaks Google's guidelines and can get profiles suspended.

Many plumbers, cleaners, electricians and other service businesses want to appear in every nearby city. The tempting shortcut is one profile per suburb with a made-up address. It usually ends with suspended profiles and lost reviews.
This guide shows what Google allows, how to choose your service areas, which areas are near each city we work with, and the local signals you can build in each one without faking anything.
The mistake many service businesses make
Typical fakes:
- A profile for each suburb using a mailbox, a coworking desk or a friend's address
- The same business under slightly different names in each city
- A "location" page and a profile for a city where nobody is ever at the address
Google's guidelines say to represent your business as it is in the real world, and that an address must be a place where your business is staffed during its stated hours. Read them here: Guidelines for representing your business on Google.
What Google allows
| Your situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| You have a staffed location customers visit | Show the address and your hours |
| You go to customers and work from home | Hide your address and set service areas |
| You have a location and also go to customers | Show the address and add service areas (a hybrid business) |
| You only sell online and never meet customers | A Maps profile may not apply to you; invest in your website first |
According to Google's help page for managing your service areas:
- You can list up to 20 service areas
- Areas should stay within about two hours of driving time from where you are based
- You set areas by city, postal code or another type of area, not by a radius around your business
- Be as specific and accurate as you can
How to choose your service areas
Do not list every city you could theoretically reach. Choose the ones where you actually work and where jobs pay for the drive.
- List where your last 20 jobs were. Real data beats guessing.
- Mark the profitable ones. Some far jobs cost more in time than they earn.
- Check travel time. If you would say no to a call there, do not list it.
- Keep it consistent with what your website says you cover.
Hypothetical example: a cleaning company based in Garland finds most jobs in Garland, Rowlett, Sachse and Mesquite. It lists those four and skips a far suburb it rarely visits.
Nearby areas to consider, by base city
These come from the nearby areas we use on our city pages. Use them as a starting point, not a rule.
| If you are based in | Areas that are often nearby |
|---|---|
| Garland | Garland, Rowlett, Richardson, Sachse, northeast Dallas |
| Dallas | Dallas and the surrounding Dallas-Fort Worth area |
| Mesquite | Mesquite, Balch Springs, Sunnyvale, southeast Dallas County |
| Forney | Forney, Kaufman County, Heartland, Talty |
| Rockwall | Rockwall, Fate, Royse City, the Lake Ray Hubbard area |
| Heath | Heath, Rockwall, McLendon-Chisholm, the Lake Ray Hubbard area |
| Terrell | Terrell, Kaufman, Elmo, Poetry |
Show up in each suburb the right way
One profile, many service pages. Keep one profile and give each important city a real page on your website. The page should say what you do there, how fast you can arrive and answer the questions customers in that city ask. Skip copy-paste pages that only swap the city name; they help no one.
Be honest about distance. Google weighs relevance, distance and prominence. If your base is in Garland, customers searching from a far suburb may see closer businesses first. You cannot fix that with a fake address. You can build prominence: reviews, a strong profile, local mentions.
Local signals you can build in each city, without faking
- Join the local chamber of commerce and complete your listing: Garland, Rockwall area (also serves Heath), Mesquite, Forney and Terrell.
- Collect reviews from customers in each city. Ask every customer and never offer rewards. Google prohibits incentives and asking only happy customers, see its contribution policies.
- Get real mentions: sponsor a local team, partner with a neighboring business, appear in a local event page.
- Keep your name, address and phone identical everywhere you are listed.
A bilingual profile for DFW
Write your description in the language most of your customers use. If you serve Spanish-speaking customers and it is true, say so in a short line such as "Se habla español". Answer reviews in the language the customer used. Keep your website pages separate by language, one URL per language.
Checklist
- One profile for your real location, or address hidden if you work from home
- Service areas chosen from real jobs, by city or ZIP code
- Name identical to your signage, with no keywords added
- A real page on your website for each main city
- Chamber of commerce listing completed where it applies
- A steady way to ask every customer for a review
- Answers to reviews within a day or two
Frequently asked questions
Can I have a Google Business Profile in every suburb I serve?
Only for places where you really have a staffed location. For the rest, use service areas on one profile.
Do I need an office in Mesquite to show up in Mesquite?
No, but being closer helps. A service-area business can list Mesquite as a service area. Results still depend on relevance, distance and prominence, and nobody can guarantee a position.
Should I hide my home address?
If you work from home and customers do not visit, Google says to hide it and show your service areas instead.
How many service areas can I add?
Up to 20, according to Google's help center, within about two hours of driving time.
Is it okay to use a virtual office or a mailbox?
Google's guidelines do not allow representing a mailbox or an unstaffed address as your location. Read the guidelines before you publish an address.
Will more service areas make me rank higher?
Not automatically. Listing places you do not really serve can hurt trust. List where you work.
